Chocolate Buttercream

  • 2 cups of unsalted butter OR 1 cup of unsalted butter and 8 oz. of shortening

  • 2 lbs powdered sugar

  • 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1/2 cup of your favorite chocolate, melted. I prefer Callebaut milk chocolate callets

  • 1/4 cup Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder

Cream butter in Bosch or KitchenAid mixer. I prefer my Bosch for frosting. The lid keeps the powdered sugar contained. If using shortening add it to creamed butter and mix. Add half of the powdered sugar and mix. Add heavy whipping cream. Mix. Add remaining powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Mix. Add melted chocolate. Mix until ingredients are combine and frosting is a smooth texture. If texture isn't smooth gradually add more heavy whipping cream until it is a smooth consistency.
